Woman poisons son, then kills self over domestic dispute with husband in Hyderabad
PTC News Desk: A 27-year-old woman in Hyderabad allegedly poisoned her 10-month-old son and then died by suicide, reportedly due to ongoing marital problems.
The baby's grandmother also attempted suicide after discovering the mother and child dead.
The woman, Sushma, had been married for four years to Yashwanth Reddy, a chartered accountant. Their son, Yashavardhan, was 10 months old. Relatives told police that the couple had been arguing frequently in recent days.
Police said Sushma went to her mother Lalitha’s home for shopping for a family event. While there, she went into another room with her baby, gave him poison, and then took her own life.
Around 9:30 pm, Yashwanth returned from work and found the bedroom door locked from inside. After breaking it open, he found both Sushma and their son unconscious. They were taken to a hospital, where they were declared dead. Lalitha, shocked by the sight, allegedly attempted suicide and has been hospitalised.
Police have registered a case and started investigations. Initial findings suggest the deaths were linked to domestic issues between the couple. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and statements from relatives and others are being recorded to determine the full details.
