National Press Day: Sukhbir Singh Badal, Harsimrat Kaur Badal greet members of media

National Press Day: Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal, extended greetings to the members of media, on Saturday. Harsimrat Kaur Badal said, "On National Press Day, I greet members of the media on the crucial role they have played to maintain socio-political transparency and accountability. I hope the media continues to uphold the highest tenets of journalism in the larger interests of the nation." Sukhbir Singh Badal said, "Congratulations to members of the media fraternity on National Press Day. I thank you all for upholding our country's democratic and ethical values and hope that you will continue to play an impartial and constructive role in nation building." Meanwhile, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar wrote: "On the occassion of National Press Day - greetings to the Media fraternity. Press freedom is essence of a vibrant democracy. This was trampled upon by the Congress during emergency.
