In Maharashtra, 106 people of those trapped in the Chinchoti waterfall in Vasai have been rescued while one person has died.   According to officials, they had gone to Chinchoti waterfall near Vasai for a picnic and were trapped there following heavy rain.   Teams of fire brigade and 19-member team from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) had been engaged in relief and rescue operations. Air Force choppers had also been pressed into service to rescue the people trapped in the waterfall.   The deceased has been identified as Bhavesh Gupta (35) and was from Kandivali East.   Palghar police PRO, Hemant Katkar said, “All the tourists were from Santacruz, Airoli, Malad, Borivali and nearby areas.”   Officials told that minimum 26 people went to the danger zone and got stuck when the water level started to rise.   They also told that the area has very thick forest and the roads were not maintained properly.
