PTC News Desk: Three more Opposition MPs have been suspended from the Lok Sabha for unruly behaviour. This brings the total number of suspended Opposition MPs to an unprecedented 146. Deepak Baij, DK Suresh, and Nakul Nath, the son of veteran leader Kamal Nath, were among those suspended.

The total number of MPs suspended from the lower house has now reached 100. Two MPs were suspended yesterday.

The wave of suspensions began earlier this week when the opposition demanded a statement from the Union Home Minister regarding the security breach in the Lok Sabha, in which men smuggled in smoke bombs and set off them during house proceedings.

The issue has escalated into the latest flashpoint between the government and the opposition, especially after a Trinamool Congress MP imitated Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.

The opposition has claimed that the suspension of MPs is a ploy by the government to pass key bills without debate.

The Lok Sabha passed three bills to overhaul criminal laws yesterday with limited debate, reducing the Opposition's strength to one-third. It was called a "disgrace" by the opposition.

The suspended MPs marched from the Parliament building to Vijay Chowk in the heart of Delhi on Thursday, accusing the government of destroying parliamentary democracy.
