AAP-Congress move Punjab and Haryana HC after Chandigarh mayor election results
Chandigarh mayor election results: Claiming 'daylight cheating' in Chandigarh mayor elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress on Tuesday filed a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The parties expressed concern about the integrity of Chandigarh's recent mayor elections and now the court will hear the case on January 31.
Lawyer Ferry Sofat, who represents the Aam Aadmi Party and Congress in the Punjab Haryana High Court, stated that we filed a petition in the High Court today regarding the mayor elections, which will be heard on Wednesday morning.
"A writ petition was filed in the High Court of Punjab and Haryana today. The court allowed the mention and scheduled a hearing for tomorrow, January 31st. The entire country witnessed what the BJP did today to bring democracy to an end. They attempted to hijack the election. We challenged the entire process in this writ petition. We have also provided proper evidence," Lawyer Sofat said.

"The entire country witnessed the BJP's attempt to end democracy today. We challenged the entire process, which was being broadcast on television. We've attached valid proof," he added.
He went on to say that at the previous hearing, the Punjab Haryana High Court ordered that the Chandigarh Mayor elections be held in a completely free and fair manner, and that "the entire voting process should be videographed."
Following a high-voltage drama surrounding the Chandigarh mayoral elections, Delhi Minister and AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of "robbery" and claimed that the party's victory was a "blatant theft."
Manoj Sonkar of the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) defeated Kuldeep Kumar of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the Chandigarh mayoral elections on Tuesday, marking the first election battle against the INDIA bloc.
Meanwhile, Manoj Sonkar, the BJP's mayor candidate, received 16 votes, while Kuldeep Singh, the Congress and AAP joint candidate, received 12 votes. Eight votes were declared invalid.
After BJP's Manoj won the Chandigarh mayor election, an uproar broke out in the House. Congress and AAP councillors accused the BJP of cheating and not following the proper electoral process.
