PTC News Desk: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has joined Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra passing through Agra, Uttar Pradesh, following a recent seat-sharing agreement between the SP and the Congress. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, instrumental in finalizing the deal, is also present.

The camaraderie between the two leaders boosts the morale of the Opposition coalition INDIA. Akhilesh Yadav becomes one of the prominent Opposition figures to participate in the extensive footmarch spanning from west to east, culminating in Mumbai.

Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee refrained from the rally amid renewed discord over seat-sharing in West Bengal. The Congress endeavors to mend fences by proposing a revised plan, scaling down its aspirations in Bengal and offering Trinamool Congress seats in Assam and Meghalaya.

Earlier this week, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra personally engaged with Akhilesh Yadav to finalise a 17-seat deal for the Congress in Uttar Pradesh, including challenging Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi. In reciprocation, the Congress relinquishes an additional seat in Madhya Pradesh to the SP.

In Uttar Pradesh, the Congress will contest in key constituencies such as Raebareli, Amethi, Varanasi, Kanpur Nagar, Fatehpur Sikri, and others. The BJP's dominance in Uttar Pradesh, winning 71 out of 80 seats in 2014, slightly diminished in 2019, securing 62 seats. Conversely, the Samajwadi Party won five seats, while Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party clinched ten, and the Congress secured Raebareli.
