'If there is no caste, why PM call himself OBC': Rahul Gandhi on caste census
PTC News Desk: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, who is addressing back-to-back rallies in Rajasthan ahead of the November 25 assembly elections, slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi over caste-based census.
"I raised the question of caste census. Asked PM Modi- You call yourself OBC, tell me how many OBCs are there in this country? Modi ji's reply came - There is only one caste in the country, the poor. If there is no caste in the country, then why does Narendra Modi call himself OBC?" Rahul Gandhi said.
Rahul Gandhi stated that no one knows the exact population of backward people in the country, which is why a caste-based census is required.
"In India, how many OBCs are there in India? No one knows how many backward people are there in India. Some say 50, some say 52, some 55...No one knows exactly," the Congress leader added.
He also stated that people will never receive the Rs 15 lakh promised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in their bank accounts.
"We keep working while they make empty bombastic statements. Narendra Modi promised to deposit Rs 15 lakh in your accounts. Did you get it? You'll never get it," Rahul Gandhi said.
He stated that while Prime Minister Modi has given Arab millionaires a loan waiver worth Rs 14.5 lakh crore, he will not give the people Rs 15 lakh as promised.
"He has waived the Arab millionaires' loan of Rs 14.5 lakh crore." "He didn't give you Rs 15 lakh, but he gave them 14.5 lakh crore," said the Congress leader.
Rajasthan will hold assembly elections on November 25, with results expected on December 3. In the 2013 Legislative Assembly elections, the BJP won 163 seats and formed the government in Rajasthan.
The Congress won 99 seats in the 200-member House in the 2018 assembly elections, while the BJP won 73. Gehlot was eventually sworn in as CM with the backing of BSP MLAs and Independents.
