NEET re-exam row: CJP demands Rs 1 crore aid for families of aspirants who died by suicide

PTC Web Desk: As concerns surrounding the NEET examination controversy continue to grow, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has urged the Central Government to provide financial assistance of Rs 1 crore to families of students who allegedly died by suicide amid the ongoing exam crisis.

In an open letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke expressed concern over the reported deaths of several NEET aspirants in recent days. He claimed that 11 students preparing for the medical entrance examination had died by suicide within a week, including five cases reported over the last two days.

Dipke argued that many affected families are now facing both emotional trauma and financial hardship. According to him, several parents had invested heavily in their children's education, often relying on loans and savings in the hope of securing a better future. The uncertainty created by the examination controversy has only added to the stress faced by students and their families, he said.

The party also reiterated its demand for accountability in the handling of the examination process. Dipke stated that students across the country are looking for clear answers and action from authorities following allegations of irregularities in the conduct of the exam.

The NEET examination, originally conducted on May 3, came under scrutiny after allegations of a paper leak surfaced. Following widespread criticism and investigations, authorities decided to cancel the examination and schedule a fresh test on June 21. The decision affected more than 22 lakh candidates who had already appeared for the highly competitive entrance exam.

Meanwhile, reports of student deaths from several states have intensified public concern. In Dehradun, a 23-year-old NEET aspirant reportedly died by suicide at her residence while preparing for the re-examination. Police officials stated that she had an excellent academic record and was known for her strong performance in studies.

In a separate incident, a 17-year-old student preparing for the NEET re-test died after allegedly falling from a residential building in Ahmedabad. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the case.
