'PM Modi became PM by stealing votes': Rahul Gandhi seeks release of 10 years’ election data nationwide
PTC Web Desk: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has alleged that the Election Commission (EC) is concealing a “major crime” by withholding electronic voter lists and polling booth video footage from the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections. He claimed this was done to protect the BJP, which he accused of manipulating the election results in Karnataka and other states.
Speaking at a rally in Bengaluru, Rahul Gandhi said the principle of 'one person, one vote' was violated on a large scale. According to him, the Congress’s internal surveys had projected wins in at least 16 seats in Karnataka, but the party secured only nine—a result he claimed raised serious concerns about the integrity of the election process.
Rahul Gandhi said the EC denied repeated requests for access to voter lists and booth videos. He further alleged that laws were changed to erase polling booth videos after 45 days, making investigations difficult.
He presented findings from a six-month inquiry into voter rolls in Mahadevapura Assembly constituency under the Bengaluru Central Lok Sabha seat, claiming to have “100 per cent proof” of voter fraud. He said nearly one lakh fake votes were added using duplicate and invalid voter entries; fake addresses linked to BJP leaders; bulk registrations at single addresses, blurred or missing voter photos and misuse of Form 6 (meant for first-time voters).
Voters allegedly registered in multiple states
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi further accused the Election Commission of shutting down state voter list websites in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Bihar to prevent public scrutiny.
He demanded that the EC release electronic voter rolls and polling day video footage from the last 10 years, saying they would prove that Prime Minister Narendra Modi “stole votes” to win power.
Calling the alleged fraud a "criminal act against the people of Karnataka," he urged the state government to investigate and punish those responsible for adding fake names to the electoral rolls. He warned EC officials that they would be held accountable by the Opposition and the people.
Targeting the BJP, Rahul Gandhi alleged that its mindset was "anti-Constitution" and that the party was using voter manipulation as a tool to undermine democracy and attack the poor and middle class.
“It will take time, but we will catch you,” he said, adding, “If you attack the Constitution, we will stand and fight back. This is the voice of the nation.”
