PM Modi inaugurates Kartavya Bhavan-3; spread over 1.5 lakh sq metres, to house key ministries
PTC Web Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated Kartavya Bhavan-3, marking a significant milestone in the Union Government’s ambitious Central Vista redevelopment project. The newly built structure is the first in a series of Common Central Secretariat (CCS) buildings planned to consolidate key ministries and departments under one roof for improved coordination and operational efficiency.
After the inauguration of Kartavya Bhavan at Kartavya Path in Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with the construction workers. He also planted a sapling on the premises of the building.
Spread across 1.5 lakh square metres, Kartavya Bhavan-3 is a state-of-the-art facility featuring high-tech conference rooms, enhanced surveillance systems, and modern infrastructure. It will house several major ministries, including Home Affairs, External Affairs, Rural Development, MSME, Petroleum and Natural Gas, and Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (DoPT). The office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA) will also operate from the same building.
Originally, the deadline to complete all three CCS buildings was November 2023. However, as per the latest update, the entire Central Secretariat project is now slated for completion by June 2027.
