'Refrain from making such statements in future': BJP chides Kangana Ranaut's for controversial remarks on farmers' protest
PTC Web Desk: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday distanced itself from recent remarks made by MP Kangana Ranaut concerning the farmers' protest and advised the actor-turned-politician to refrain from making such statements in the future.
In an official statement, the BJP clarified, "The views expressed by MP Ms. Kangana Ranaut regarding the farmers' protest do not represent the stance of the Bharatiya Janata Party. The party does not agree with her comments."
The statement further noted, "Ms. Kangana Ranaut is not authorised to speak on policy matters on behalf of the party and has not been granted permission to do so. The BJP has instructed Ms. Ranaut to avoid making similar statements going forward."
The ruling party's response came a day after Kangana Ranaut, known for her provocative remarks, sparked controversy by suggesting that the farmers' protest could have led to a Bangladesh-like crisis in India if not for the decisive actions taken by the Modi government.
The newly elected Mandi MP took to her X handle, sharing a video in which she alleged that during the farmers' protest, "bodies were seen hanging and rapes were taking place."
Kangana Ranaut also accused vested interests and "foreign powers" of perpetuating the protests, even after the government decided to repeal the three contentious farm laws. "What happened in Bangladesh could have easily happened here too. There is a conspiracy by foreign powers, and these filmy people thrive on it. They don't care if the country goes to the dogs," she claimed.
