'Neev' laid by President Ram Nath at the Golden jubilee of MCM DAV College, Chd

President Ram Nath Kovind laid the first brick for the Golden jubilee building in MCM DAV College for Women, Sector 36 Chandigarh on Wednesday morning. President reached MCM DAV College for Women, Sector 36, to mark its 50 years. The souvenir of MCM DAV was also launched by the President. Kovind is expected to stay on the campus for over an hour. President Ram Nath Kovind at the Golden jubliee of MCM DAV, Sector 36 He will address students on the occasion of Golden Jubliee celebration while the Principal of the college, Nisha Bhargav will inform about the achievements of the college in the past 50 years. The Mehr Chand Mahajan (MCM) DAV College for Women was founded in the memory of Justice Mehr Chand Mahajan in 1968. It was inaugurated by the then Vice-President of India, Dr VV Giri. The college had a humble beginning, with four rooms at DAV School in Sector 15. Thereafter, the 16-acre campus in Sector 36 was given to the college by the Chandigarh Administration. President Ram Nath Kovind at the Golden jubliee of MCM DAV, Sector 36 Sneh Mahajan, daughter of Justice Mahajan, held the office of the Principal from 1986 to 2000 and nurtured the college with discipline and focus that became a trademark of MCM students in the area. Dr Puneet Bedi came into office after Mahajan’s retirement while Dr Nisha Bhargava joined the institution in October 2015. With an “A” grade from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore, and the Star Status by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, MCM DAV has figured among the top 75 educational institution of India in the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) by the MHRD. The college has won the Panjab University Women’s General Efficiency Sports Shield 37 times in its existence of 50 years.“It is a matter of great pride that the President has consented to visit the college on the completion of its 50 years,” said Dr Nisha Bhargava. -PTC News
