11 lakh Anganwadi beneficiaries to receive fry ration from Markfed
Chandigarh, 10 January: Taking a major initiative to provide quality, nutritious food to 11 lakh beneficiaries of Anganwadi centers in the state, the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann finalized an agreement between the Department of Social Security, Women and Child Development and Markfed for the supply of dry ration.
According to this agreement, Markfed will supply dry ration in the form of gram flour, wheat flour and other items to the Department of Social Security, Women and Child Development, which will prepare nutritious food for the beneficiaries in Anganwadi Centers and other places.

Congratulating both the departments, the Chief Minister said that this historic initiative aims to provide quality food to children in Anganwadi Centers and provide adequate nutritional food to pregnant women and nursing mothers. Bhagwant Mann said that he is in favor of providing quality food items for mid-day meal in schools and children in Anganwadis, for which this step has been taken. He said that the Punjab government is committed for the overall development of the children of the state.
The Chief Minister said that this coordination between Markfed and the department is unprecedented, which will ensure smooth and timely supply of ration to Anganwadis. He said that apart from ensuring the welfare of women and children, this agreement will prove helpful in the further expansion of Markfed, the leading cooperative institution of the state, which will strengthen the cooperative movement in Punjab. Bhagwant Mann said that Anganwadi centers used to get many complaints about poor supply of ration but now with this agreement Markfed will supply better quality ration, which will improve the health of children and women.
