PTC News Desk: The rotten body of a 26-year-old Kabaddi player was recovered from Shahkot Police Station in Jalandhar on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Gurbhej Singh who was a resident of village Bajwa Kalan in Shahkot.

Notably Gurbhej Singh was a kabaddi player who also used to partially work at the police station. He went to the police station on Friday like usual however did not return home. The family conducted search for three long days, but had no success.

However the incident came to light on Sunday night after a foul smell gripped the roof of the police station. When the staff checked the room, they found the body of Gurbhej Singh in a decomposed state.

The body was sent to Nakodar government hospital for post mortem and later handed over to the family for the last rites. Singh's funeral was also attended by several police personnel from the police station where he used to work.

The preliminary investigation suggest poisonous insect bite as probable cause of the death. However the exact cause will only be ascertained after the post mortem report is released.
