BSF shoots down drone near Punjab's Amritsar, heroin packets recovered

Mohali, December 21: The Border Security Force (BSF) jawans on Wednesday shot down a drone near Amritsar and seized 25 suspicious packets of heroin near Fazilka area. BSF sleuths also opened fire on suspected smugglers.

As per information, BSF troops noticed suspicious movement of smugglers on both sides of the border fencing near Gatti Ajaib Singh village of Fazilka district around 1.50 am.


They opened fired at suspected Pakistani smugglers. However, they fled amid dense fog. Later, the area was cordoned off. The matter was immediately brought to the notice of the police.

When a thorough search was conducted, BSF troops found four packets of heroin that was wrapped in yellow tape from ahead of the fence on Indian side of the border. Later, 21 packets of contraband wrapped in yellow tape was found ahead of the border fence.


Meanwhile, in another incident, a drone entered Indian side from the Pakistani last evening around 7.20pm in Daoke border outpost in Amritsar sector.

According to BSF officials, personnel of 144 Battalion immediately launched counter-drone measuresThe drone fell in the Pakistan area.
