Cash-strapped Punjabi University's monthly grant increased to Rs 30 crore; letter issued
Patiala, April 3: The Ministry of Finance on Tuesday issued a letter with regard to a grant of Rs 90 crore for cash-strapped Punjabi University, Patiala, for the first three months of the ongoing fiscal to the Department of Higher Education.
Notably, the Punjab Government, led by CM Bhagwant Mann, has increased cash-strapped Punjabi University's monthly grant to Rs 30 crore.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, along with state Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, had given an assurance with regard to increasing the grant of Punjabi University in the Legislative Assembly. The university's estimated budget deficit has ad climbed to the highest ever at Rs 285 crore.
