Chandigarh businessman gets police protection after alleged life threat from BJP MP Kirron Kher
PTC News Desk: The Punjab and Haryana High Court ordered police protection for a Chandigarh businessman and his family after he alleged receiving a life threat from BJP MP Kirron Kher.
Speaking to a news agency, Advocate Shiv informed that businessman Chaitanya had a financial dispute and business transactions regarding which he had the threat. He is a resident of Mani Majra.
"We made him respondent number two because he claimed that even the police would not listen to him and that his life and family were in danger. So he filed a writ before the court to seek the protection of his life and liberty, as well as that of his family, of which the court took notice and disposed of the writ petition with directions to the SP, SHO, and home secretary, as well as that of the petitioner," said Advocate Shiv.
"For the time being, they have given protection for a week and after a week, they will again reassess if there is a threat perception and how much is the threat now. They have given us the liberty also to approach the court again, in case, if there is some more," he added.
When asked about the dispute and its backstory, the Advocate stated that it is a detailed dispute that was mentioned in the petition, but the high court has also refused to comment on the merits of the case as to what the dispute was or was not.
"So even the High Court has refused that we will not comment upon this but, yes, the court has, assessed that there may be apprehension of some danger to the life of the petitioner and his family so they have granted the protection," the Advocate added.
Kirron Kher is a theatre, film, and television actor in addition to being a BJP MP. She is also the wife of veteran actor Anupam Kher.
