Chandigarh police issues traffic advisory ahead of farmers' 'Chandigarh Chalo protest' on March 5
PTC News Desk: The Chandigarh Traffic Police have released traffic advisory ahead of the protest march scheduled on Wednesday March 5 across key roads connecting Mohali and Chandigarh.
As per the advisory, restrictions are placed in order to ensure smooth vehicular movement and public safety.
The affected routes include:
Commuters are advised to use alternate routes to avoid congestion and inconvenience. However, emergency vehicles will be given priority access and movement will be facilitated.
The UT police have urged the general public to adopt alternate routes to avoid any inconvenience. The movement of emergency vehicles will be facilitated without any hindrance.
The advisory has been issued in the backdrop of 'Chandigarh Chalo protest' organised by Samyukt Kisan Morcha after the talks with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday remained inconclusive.
The meeting, instead of yielding solutions, escalated tensions as farmers' leaders accused CM Mann of walking out midway and allegedly attempting to intimidate them. Following the failed talks, SKM leaders, including Joginder Singh Ugrahan and Balbir Singh Rajewal, expressed strong dissatisfaction. According to them, this was the first time in Punjab's history that a Chief Minister had directly attempted to threaten farmers during discussions.
