Case against Bikram Singh Majithia is false and baseless, says Dera Beas chief Gurinder Singh Dhillon after Nabha jail meeting

PTC Web Desk:  Dera Beas chief Gurinder Singh Dhillon on Monday made a strong statement in support of Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia, terming the case registered against him as “false and baseless.”

He made the remarks after meeting Bikram Singh Majithia at Nabha Jail, where the senior Akali leader is currently lodged. Calling the allegations against Majithia unfounded, the Dera Beas head said the case appeared to be without substance.

The meeting between Gurinder Singh Dhillon and Bikram Singh Majithia has sparked political discussion, as the dera chief rarely comments publicly on political or legal matters.

Bikram Singh Majithia, a prominent face of the Shiromani Akali Dal, has maintained his innocence since the case was registered. Akali Dal leaders have repeatedly alleged that the case is politically motivated, a charge denied by the ruling dispensation.

Notably, Dhillon had earlier met Majithia in September, and the two are stated to be related.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court is scheduled to hear Majithia’s bail plea today. The Punjab Government is expected to file its response during the hearing. At the earlier hearing, the state had sought additional time to submit its reply. Majithia has been in police custody since June 2025 in the case.

In the ongoing investigation, two arrests have been made so far. On November 30, the police arrested Harpreet Singh Gulati, who was later taken on remand for questioning. Around five days ago, the investigating agency filed an 11,000-page chargesheet against Gulati.

According to officials, the chargesheet contains details of financial transactions between Majithia and Gulati, forming a key part of the prosecution’s case in the disproportionate assets matter.
