Disproportionate assets: Vigilance Bureau arrests suspensed Punjab Police constable Amandeep Kaur
PTC Web Desk: Amandeep Kaur, a suspended woman constable with the Punjab Police known for her high-profile social media presence, has been arrested once again—this time by the Vigilance Bureau in a case of possessing assets disproportionate to her known sources of income.
According to the Punjab Vigilance Bureau’s findings, Amandeep Kaur's declared income was Rs 1.08 crore over a few years. However, her expenditures were found to be Rs 1.39 crore, significantly exceeding her income. The arrest was made by the Vigilance team from the Bathinda Zone, which had summoned her for questioning. Once she arrived, she was taken into custody.
Amandeep Kaur was earlier arrested with 17 gm of heroin. She was subsequently suspended from duty, and legal proceedings were initiated under the NDPS Act. After she was granted bail, the suspended woman police constable, in a public interview, maintained that she was falsely implicated and claimed innocence.
Despite her rank as a constable, she caught public attention due to her lavish lifestyle. Her Instagram reels often featured her wearing a Rolex watch, driving a Mahindra Thar SUV, and flaunting expensive homes. These displays of luxury raised questions about the source of her wealth, eventually leading to the Vigilance investigation.
The department is now looking into her bank accounts, properties, and suspected financial dealings. Authorities are also examining her potential links to drug trafficking networks and other illicit sources of income.
