FIR against Punjabi singer Rami Randhawa for displaying firearms on social media
PTC News Desk: A case has been registered against Punjabi singer Ramandeep Singh, fondly known as Rami Randhawa, for allegedly displaying firearms on his social media account.
The Amritsar (Rural) police took suo moto congnisance after Ramandeep's Facebook post containing photographs of arms came to the fore. Following verification of the content, the Ajnala police registered an FIR against him under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant provisions of the Arms Act.
ASI Kanwaljit Singh said the police received specific information that Ramandeep Singh had shared objectionable images involving weapons on his social media platform. “On checking his Facebook account, the information was found to be correct. Display of arms on social media is a violation of the law, so a case was registered,” he said.
