Transport Tender Scam: ED arrests former Punjab minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu
Transport Tender Scam: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrests former Punjab minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu following an extensive eight-hour interrogation. The arrest is linked to a high-profile fraud case involving a tender worth Rs 2,000 crore.
In response to Ashu's arrest, Congress leaders and workers have gathered in front of the ED office.
Congress Urban President Rajinder Berry claimed that this action is politically motivated. He stated that the Vigilance Bureau did not find any substantial evidence in the case, and now the ED is also unable to find anything. The Congress Committee has announced that they will strongly oppose this arrest and protest against the ED's actions.
Transport tender scam dates back to the tenure of Bharat Bhushan Ashu as the Minister of Food and Civil Supplies of Punjab. During his term, allegations emerged that he was involved in a fraudulent transportation tender.
Last year also raids were conducted at his residence and other locations related to this case.
