PTC Web Desk: Panic gripped Kathiya Wala Bazaar near Tahli Wala Chowk in Amritsar on Tuesday after a four-storey building undergoing renovation suddenly collapsed, leaving two workers injured.

According to initial information, repair and construction work was underway inside the building at the time of the incident. A major portion of the structure gave way without warning, trapping a mason and a labourer under the debris. The collapse triggered chaos in the busy market area as people rushed to safety.

The injured mason was immediately pulled out and shifted to a hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the labourer remained trapped under the rubble. On receiving information, local residents alerted the police and administration. Personnel from the B Division police station, along with rescue teams, rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation.

With the help of locals, the rescue teams worked for nearly one and a half hours before safely pulling the trapped labourer out of the debris. He was also rushed to a hospital for medical treatment. Officials said both injured workers are stable and out of danger.
