Gang selling newborn babies busted in Punjab's Samana; 7 arrested

Patiala, December 6 (with inputs from Gagandeep Ahuja): Punjab's Samana police on Tuesday claimed to have busted a gang selling newborn babies with the arrest of seven of its members. Two newborn babies, Rs 4 lakh in cash, a car and an ambulance have been recovered from their possession.

The Samana police had received a tip-off that a gang selling newborn babies was about to strike a deal of two newborn babies at a ground in Samana. A police team laid a trap near the spot. When the suspects reached there, the police arrested them from the spot.

SSP Varun Sharma said seven persons of the gang, namely Baljinder Singh, Amandeep Kaur, Lalit Kumar, Bhupinder Kaur, Sujeet, Harpreet Singh and Sukhwinder Singh had been arrested and booked under Sections 370 (5), 120-B IPC, Section 81 of the Juvnile Justice (Care & Protection of Children) Act.
