Chandigarh, May 22:  The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued a contempt notice to Jarnail Singh Bajwa, managing director, Bajwa Developers, for allegedly failing to provide the necessary electricity infrastructure at Sunny Enclave in Mohali, despite prior court orders.

Earlier, the Punjab and Haryana High Court had imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 for non-compliance, but no actions were taken to adhere to the orders. The High Court has now taken a stern stance, asking Jarnail Singh Bajwa to explain why he should not be held in contempt and face penalties.

The contempt petition was filed by 98 residents of Sunny Enclave, who reported to the court that they have not received proper electricity connections despite paying all required fees. Bajwa Developers were responsible for providing the electricity infrastructure, which they failed to deliver, causing significant inconvenience to the residents.

In an earlier court session, Jarnail Singh Bajwa had assured the High Court that the necessary electricity infrastructure would be completed by March 2023. However, the failure to comply with these orders led to the filing of the contempt petition, resulting in the current notice from the High Court.
