Heroine worth Rs 80 crore smuggled into Punjab from Pakistan seized near Gurdaspur border, 4 arrested
PTC News Desk: The Border Security Force in a joint operation with Punjab police have busted cross-border drug nexus and seized a large consignment of heroine worth Rs 80 crore from Gurdaspur border. Four drug smugglers have also been arrested during the operation.
According to officials, based on credible intelligence, the BSF and Punjab Police jointly launched an operation in Thetharke village area of Gurdaspur district.
The police have also recovered five packets of drugs, three mobile phones and two motorcycles from the smugglers.
The apprehended smugglers are residents of the village Manepur and Ballagan in Gurdaspur district, and Pakha Tara Singh & Palla colony in Amritsar, respectively.
"This notable achievement reflects seamless teamwork, dedication and commitment of the BSF and Punjab Police in safeguarding the nation's borders from the menace of narcotics smuggling and thwarting the nefarious designs of anti-national elements," the BSF said in a press release.
The BSF and Punjab police have heightened surveillence especially in the border areas to foil attempts of cross-border drug smuggling and dismantle the drug nexus.
