'Irregularities in langar': SGPC chief Advocate Dhami suspends 51 officials
PTC Web Desk: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has suspended 51 employees for alleged administrative irregularities in langar (community kitchen) Sri Guru Ramdas ji at the Golden Temple in Amritsar.
SGPC secretary Partap Singh said an investigation was ordered through the SGPC’s flying department after the matter came to the fore. On the basis of the investigation report, 51 employees had been suspended. The suspended employees included managers, supervisors, storekeepers deputed at langar Sri Guru Ramdas Ji, and gurdwara inspectors, who performed the duties at that time.
He said of these 51 suspended employees, two storekeepers were suspended during the preliminary investigation.
SGPC president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said any negligence and irregularity in the gurdwara management would not be tolerated.
Advocate Dhami said the religious sentiments of the sangat were associated with gurdwaras, and representing these sentiments was the primary responsibility of the managers and employees of the religious shrines.
Meanwhile, Bhagwant Singh Dhangera has been appointed general manager of the Golden Temple, Amritsar. He was earlier posted as in-charge at the SGPC’s sub-office in Chandigarh.
SGPC secretary Partap Singh said additional manager Nishan Singh had been entrusted with the responsibility of managing Sarais (inns). Manager Narinder Singh had been posted at Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj Baba Deep Singh Ji. Satinder Singh, who was working as a supervisor in the SGPC’s purchase department, has now been appointed as an additional manager at Sri Darbar Sahib and given the charge of management of Langar Sri Guru Ramdas Ji.
