Moga: NRI duped by Instagram bride, left stranded with Baraat at fake wedding venue
PTC News Desk: A Dubai returned groom and his 'baraatis' were left stranded at a fake wedding venue after the bride went missing.
According to the police, Deepak Kumar returned to Jalandhar from Dubai where he works as a labourer, to marry Manpreet Kaur who he has been talking to since three years. However, the duo never met in person and decided to marry each other while talking on social media platform Instagram.
Deepak said that he along with his family travelled from Mandiali village in Jalandhar to Moga for his wedding at the venue, as communicated by the bride.
As per the information, the groom Deepak was told by bride that he along with his family would be escoted to the wedding venue upon reaching. However no body showed up even after a long wait. Hence upon enquiring locals about the wedding venue, they were informed that there is no such venue.
The parents of both the families arranged the wedding over a phone call only. Deepak's father Prem Chand said he along with 150 'baraatis' came for the wedding, and that he had already hired taxis, paid for catering and a videographer.
Deepak Kumar after the incident has lodged complaint against Manpreet Kaur and further investigation in the matter is underway.
