Patiala: Girl among 4 students killed as speeding SUV crashes near university
Patiala : In a tragic, horrific and spine-chilling incident, four law students of Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law killed in a dreadful accident in Patiala.
The harrowing incident unfolded near the university at around 3 am on Saturday morning.
The victims have been identified as Reet Sood, Ishaan Sood, Kushagar Yadav, and Ribhu Sehgal.
Two other students travelling in a vehicle behind their car sustained injuries.
As per the reports, all the students were on their way back to the university when their speeding SUV lost control and crashes into the fields, resulting in tragic fatal incident.
The collision was so severe that the police had to use tractors to remove parts of the crushed wreckage to retrieve the bodies.
Eyewitnesses reported that the SUV, driven at high speed, veered off the road and crashed into nearby fields.
Upon receiving tragic news of the accident, police arrived at the scene and commenced an investigation. The accident occurred very close to the university.
In an official statement, police said, “We can't confirm if the vehicle hit the trees off the road; our investigation is ongoing. Since no other vehicle was found, it appears the SUV slipped off the road and crashed into a field three feet below the road surface. The fields had been recently watered for the upcoming paddy season, causing the vehicle to become stuck.”
