Patiala accident: PRTC bus with passengers beyond capacity, overturns after massive collision
PTC News Desk: A PRTC bus met with an accident and critically injured the passengers on Thursday in Punjab's Patiala district. Reportedly the bus having the capacity of 52, was carrying over 100 passengers, which overturned after colliding with a tree.
The incident sparked panic among the passengers and onlookers, who immediately reached the spot. At least 20 people were critically injured with legs broken and fractures. They were immediately rushed to the hospital, and currently undergoing treatment.
The preliminary information suggests that the bus was carrying passengers beyond its capacity due to the recent reopening of schools and colleges. Reportedly the driver lost the control and bus overturned after massive collission and a tree fell on the bus, triggering a massive explosion.
The police officials were informed about the incident who them reached the spot and launched investigation into the matter. SHO of Bhadason police station, Inspector Jaspreet Singh said "This incident occurred at 8 in the morning. The bus was travelling from the villages towards Patiala. It lost control and hit a tree."
"Our teams reached the accident site. Fortunately no casualties were reported and the statements of the injured passengers are being recorded. Appropriate action will be taken in this regard," he further added.
