PTC Web Desk: A horrifying revelation has come to the fore in the case of a 10-year-old boy who was brutally assaulted by his stepmother in Patiala. The child's uncle has revealed that his elder brother had allegedly sold the boy for Rs 3.5 lakh. Following reports of the child’s mistreatment, his family members, including his grandparents and uncle, rushed to Rajindra Hospital to meet him.

Recently, in the royal city of Patiala, a stepmother subjected a 10-year-old boy to severe physical abuse. She pressed a hot iron against the child’s face and also beat him with a belt. Upon receiving information about the assault, a local NGO, Seva Society, rescued the child from the woman’s clutches and admitted him to the government-run Rajindra Hospital.

The case gained prominence after PTC News highlighted it, which led the child’s family members—his grandparents and uncle—to discover the horrifying ordeal. They were left in shock and immediately visited the hospital to meet the child.

The child's uncle, Gurpreet Singh, revealed that the boy is his elder brother’s son. His elder brother and his wife had separated, and both had since remarried. Approximately 1.5 years ago, his brother falsely claimed that he had left his son with relatives. However, later it was discovered that he had actually sold the child for Rs 3.5 lakh.

Head of the NGO ‘Apna Farz Sewa Samiti,’ which rescued the child, stated that although the police have arrested the abusive stepmother, the entire case needs investigation. He said since the father himself had allegedly sold the child, all persons involved in this heinous act should be brought to justice.
