Punjab: After arrest of AAP MLA's aide, opposition attacks ruling party

Chandigarh, February 16: After the arrest of a close aide of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Bathinda rural in a graft case, the Opposition on Thursday slammed the ruling party.

Notably, Punjab Vigilance on Thursday arrested the PA of Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Bathinda rural Amit Ratan for taking a bribe of Rs 4 lakh.

Former Union Cabinet Minister and Shiromani Akali Dal leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal accused the MLA of accepting bribe and said the party is "trying to shift blame on his PA."

"Kattar Beimaan Sarkar gave ticket to Amit Rattan after he was expelled from SAD for corruption. Now AAP MLA Rattan caught red-handed accepting bribe from a Sarpanch of my constituency. Bhagwant Beimaan is trying to shift blame on his PA. Why not arresting MLA & probing his deeds?" the SAD leader said.

Congress leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira, taking to Twitter said: "I dare @BhagwantMann to order VB probe against Mla Bathinda Rural as it's not possible for a Pa to take 4 lacs bribe without the knowledge of Mla."

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Punjab unit chief Ashwani Sharma also slammed the Bhagwant Mann government after the arrest of Bathinda AAP MLA Amit Ratan's PA Resham Singh, saying that the true faces of the party's Punjab government leaders have begun to unfold in public.

The BJP chief further pointed out that two Cabinet Ministers, Vijay Inder Singla and Fauja Singh Sarari, have been dismissed in the 11 months since the Bhagwant Mann government took power in Punjab.
