Mohali sacrilege row: A serious case of sacrilege has come to the fore where desecration of gutka sahib was reported in Sohan near Mata Gujri Devi Gurdwara (located close to Gurdwara Singh Shaheedan), triggering tensions in the area.

Following the incident, members of Sikh community blocked the Airport road in protest after desecrated pages of holy book were found lying on the road and demanded justice.

A case under newly enacted anti-sacrilege legislation has been registered and police launched investigation into the matter.

The incident came to the light after a sevadar at the gurdwara noticed the torn pages of Sri Gutka Sahib lying on the ground. As the news of sacrilege spread, people swiftly gathered at the spot. Agitated over the desecration, protestors launched protest against the administration, raised slogans and blocked Airport Road demanding immediate arrest of those responsible.

Considering the tense situation, DSP Harsimran Singh Bal from Mohali City-2 reached the spot. He assured the protesters that the police are taking the matter seriously. He said a case has been registered and CCTV footage from the area is being examined. He added that those responsible will be identified and arrested soon.
