Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann orders transfer of entire police post staff in Bathinda over inaction on drug death complaint
Punjab drug menace: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has ordered transfer of entire police post staff in Bathinda district over inaction in complaint from a village after alleged-drug related deaths and inaction by police.
Following the Chief Minister’s orders, Harjeet Singh transferred 11 police staff from Bathinda to Mansa. This included the post in-charge, three ASIs, four senior constables, one constable, and three home guards.
The DIG also ordered an internal inquiry against the SHO of Bathinda Sadar police station.
This action came after a complaint by Lakha Singh, who raised concerns about the growing drug problem in his village during a meeting. He told authorities about alleged drug-related deaths and said local police had not taken action.
Taking the matter seriously, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann instructed senior officials to act strictly and said negligence in drug-related cases would not be tolerated.
The DIG confirmed that the transfers were done as per the Chief Minister’s orders.
Meanwhile, Lakha Singh clarified that he did not blame any specific person but only wanted authorities to take action against the drug issue in his village.
