The Patiala police have registered FIR against unidentified people, however the family has accused punjab cops of assaulting the father and son.

Punjab: Colonel, son brutally assaulted by Punjab police over parking dispute in Patiala; 12 cops suspended

PTC News Desk: A senior army officer and his son were allegedly beaten up by Punjab police in Patiala over a car parking dispute. Colonel Pushpinder Bath, who is currently posted at the army headquarters in New Delhi, claimed he was assaulted on the intervening night of March 13 and 14. He is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.

In view of the incident, Patiala SSP has ordered suspension of 12 cops  while FIR has been registered against unidentified people,  however the family has accused Punjab police personnel of assaulting the father and son.


Reportedly, the cops were not in uniform and were in civil dress when the scuffle broke out. 

The incident reportedly occurred on the intervening night of March 13 and 14, over a car parking dispute. CCTV footage has also been recovered from the scene. According to the reports, the Colonel and his son were at a dhaba near Rajindra hospital. 

Patiala SSP Nanak Singh said that they have launched investigation into the matter following the registration of FIR and based on the statement of a dhaba owner who witnessed the incident. The police have yet to name any officers as accused in the case.
