Punjab: Farmers and police clash in Gurdaspur over land acquisition, several injured
PTC News Desk: A clash broke out between farmers and police officials on Tuesday in two districts of Gurdaspur district over land acquisition. The farmers unions have claimed that at least seven to eight farmers have been injured during the scuffle.
The farmers have alleged that the administration had tried to acquire their land without any prior notice and offered unreasonable compensation.
The scuffle broke out in the backdrop of dispute owing to land acquisition for Delhi-Katra expressway highway. Farmers have further alleged that the land is forcibly being acquired in violation of their rights and they will continues the protest until their demands are met.
Farmer unions have aldo demanded appropriate compensation from the government over land acquisition and the entire process should be cancelled as it is being carrioe out without consent.
