Punjab govt in action mode after Delhi polls, seeks resignations from 232 law officials
PTC Web Desk: In a significant move following the Delhi election results, the Punjab Government has intensified its administrative actions. After the removal of the Vigilance Chief and the suspension of the Muktsar Sahib Deputy Commissioner, the government has now sought resignations from 232 legal officials appointed to represent the state in the High Court, Supreme Court, and various tribunals.
Punjab Advocate General Gurminder Singh clarified that the resignation requests are part of a routine administrative process, as these legal officers are appointed on a one-year contractual basis. Their current term is set to expire in February, and the move aims to streamline and strengthen the office’s functioning.
"This procedural step is intended to ensure smooth reappointment of legal officers and maintain continuity in legal representation, ultimately serving the interests of Punjab’s citizens more effectively," he stated.
