Punjab: Mohali's Wave Estate sets remarkable example by reviving tradition with grand 6-day Ramleela celebration
Mohali, October 24: In an era where ancient traditions are fading into obscurity, Wave Estate, Sector 85, Mohali, has stood out with an inspiring initiative. The Ramleela and Dussehra Committee, Sector 85 and 99, led by the visionary Chairman Gajender Vashisht and Varun Vasudeva has rekindled the age-old tradition by not only showcasing this iconic epic, but also nurturing and motivating the youth.
Under Gajender Vashisht's expert guidance, a diverse group of participants, including children and professionals from various fields, came together to grace the Ramleela stage. What's truly remarkable is that they were all trained by Vashisht himself.
The Ramleela unfolded with captivating scenes that not only connected children to their rich culture and traditions, but also motivated them to take on similar initiatives in the future. Varun Vasudeva, president of the committee, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved, making this six-day extravaganza a resounding success.
One of the most captivating aspects of this Ramleela was its inclusivity. From Chartered Accountants to individuals in the pharma industry, doctors, surgeons, CRPF personnel, and software engineers, the cast included people from diverse backgrounds. The participation of women in various roles added a powerful touch to the event.
The role of Lord Rama was played by Vinay Sachdeva, who is a CA. The role of Sita was played by his wife Richa Sachdeva, who is a software engineer. The role of Laxman was played by Kunal Kapoor, who deals in pharma sector. The main role of Ravana was played by Umesh Nagpal, who is a Central govt employee. KK Bhandari played the role of Megnath. He is deputy commandant (legal) in the CRPF. Rituraj Bhandari held the audience spellbound with her roles as Manthara and Saroopnakha.
Dr Prashant Bansal played the role of Hanuman ji. He is a urologist and cancer surgeon. Sandeep Sharma, an advocate by profession, played the role of Raja Janak. Vikas Sood played 'Kumbhkaran'. He is also in the pharma sector. Dr Kanika Kapoor, a dentist by profession, played 'Mandavi' while her husband Ankit Kapoor, an IT professional, played the role of 'Bharat'. Kids from as young as two-year-old also marked their presence felt with various roles assigned to them.
On Day 5 on Monday, the audience was treated to emotional scenes that left them in awe. The entire audience was so engrossed in the performance that you could hear a pin drop. Applauses echoed, motivating the talented artistes on stage.
Gajender Vashisht and Varun Vasudeva promised the audience an even better presentation next year, leaving everyone eagerly awaiting the next grand celebration. They also expressed their gratitude to the dedicated committee members, including Gajender Vashisht, Kunal Kapoor, Rakesh Gupta, Vikas Sood, Alka Gupta, Renu Sharma, Renu Ahuja, Harshita Chopra, Umesh Nagpal, KK Bhandari, Vinay Sachdeva and Tarun Jindal, Jaspreet Singh Sodhi and Arun Kukkar from mandir committee.
As Day 6 approaches with the epic Ram-Ravan war and Lanka Dahan, the festivities at Wave Estate Sector 85 are set to conclude on a high note. This grand celebration is not just an event; it's a testament to the enduring power of tradition and community spirit.
