Punjab Police conducts statewide 'Operation Caso' to crack down on drug trafficking
PTC Web Desk: In a decisive move against drug trafficking, the Punjab Police launched 'Operation Caso' across multiple districts, including Jalandhar, Bathinda, Patiala, Amritsar, and Ludhiana. Senior police officials led the operation, conducting extensive search operations in high-risk areas to curb drug-related activities.
On Saturday morning, the Punjab Police carried out a large-scale raid in Jalandhar’s Qaji Mandi, an area notorious for illegal activities. The entire locality was sealed off as police teams conducted house-to-house searches. The operation aimed to tighten the noose around drug peddlers and criminals.
The raids began at 7 am, before residents were fully awake, with over 100 police personnel participating. Officials searched over 20 houses, primarily targeting individuals with prior drug-related cases or suspected involvement in illegal activities.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mandeep Singh Sidhu stated that the operation followed a high-level meeting between Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav. The meeting focused on taking strict action against drug dealers and ensuring a drug-free Punjab.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Nirmal Singh emphasised that the operation is a critical step toward eliminating drug networks and restoring law and order.
The Punjab Police have vowed to continue such intensive anti-drug operations to dismantle organised crime and curb the illegal drug trade in the state.
