Punjab School summer vacations : In response to the scorching heatwave, the Punjab Government has taken proactive measures to ensure the safety and well-being of students by deciding to declare summer vacations in all schools from May 21.
Earlier, the summer holidays were scheduled to begin from June 1 but due to Red Alert of heatwave issued in Punjab, the state government announced early summer vacations in all schools.
The decision comes as a response to the intense heatwave gripping the region, with temperatures reaching unprecedented highs in recent days. By announcing the early summer vacations in all schools , authorities aim to mitigate the risks associated with exposure to extreme heat.
A severe heatwave is currently sweeping across various regions of the nation, with temperatures reaching record highs where temperatures are soaring to around 45 degrees Celsius.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) weather forecast issued red alert of heatwave in Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi for next week.
This intense heat is attributed to dry westerly and northwesterly winds combined with clear skies, which are allowing direct sunlight to significantly increase temperatures
