Real estate agent shot at in Mohali firing, assailants at large
PTC News Desk: A real estate businessman and his friend were fired upon on Airport Road in Mohali, Punjab by unknown bike-borne assailants on Friday late night. The duo managed to save their lives by ducking under the seats as the attackers unleashed the shots. The attackers fled the scene while continuing to shoot.
As the assailants fled the spot, the victim immediately informed the police. Upon receiving the information, several teams of police officials were dispatched and reached the spot and gathered details from him.
However no arrests have been made in connection with the firing.
The victim has been identified as Dheeraj Sharma, a resident of Sunny Enclave who runs a real estate company called Balaji Estate near UCO Bank on Desu Majra Road.
According to the police, the preliminary investigation suggests that the attack could be linked to an old rivalry or a threat, however the exact cause behind firing has not been ascertained yet. The cops are scrutinising CCTV footage from nearby areas, and checkpoints were set up across Airport Road, New Chandigarh, and surrounding regions to search vehicles following the incident.
The Sadar Police had reached the spot and recovered bullet shells. A case has also been registered in this regard. Meanwhile police teams are conducting raids at various locations to identify the attackers.
