RSS leader’s grandson murder case: Ferozepur police arrest third accused after brief encounter
PTC Web Desk: The Ferozepur police have arrested the third accused in the murder case of Naveen Kumar, the grandson of senior RSS leader Dina Nath. Naveen was shot dead on November 16 in Mochi Bazaar.
According to Ferozepur SSP Bhupinder Singh, the arrested suspect has been identified as Jatin Kali. The police received information late at night that Kali was moving around in the city. A CIA team immediately set up a checkpoint on Arifke Road.
When officials signalled him to stop, Kali attempted to flee on his motorcycle. On seeing the police, he opened fire, with one bullet striking the front windshield of a police vehicle. In retaliation, the police shot him in the leg, causing him to fall from his motorcycle, after which he was overpowered and arrested.
The SSP said Kali had allegedly conspired to kill Naveen Kumar and had paid the attackers Rs 1 lakh to execute the murder.
During the chase, Kali tried to escape and fired at a police vehicle, reportedly aiming at the driver, but the officer narrowly escaped. The police returned fire, injuring Kali and taking him into custody. He has been admitted to Ferozepur Civil Hospital for treatment.
The police have recovered a motorcycle and a .32-bore pistol from his possession. Both items have been seized as part of the investigation.
