Samana accident: Authorities wake up from sleep slumber; ban heavy vehicles on key Samana routes during school hours
PTC Web Desk: In the aftermath of the death of seven schoolchildren and their driver in Innova-tipper collision on the Samana-Pehowa road (SH-10), the Patiala administration has imposed a strict ban on heavy vehicular traffic on Samana-Pehowa Road, Samana-Pattran Road (from village Karhali to Samana), and Samana-Bhawanigarh Road (from village Bhari to Samana).
These restrictions, effective from May 23 will remain in place until July 22 between the school transit hours of 6 am to 9 am and 1 pm to 4pm. The directive is applicable to all heavy transport vehicles, including tippers and trucks. The administration has clarified that emergency vehicles and school transport buses will be exempted from this regulation.
In a coordinated move, officials from the office of the District Magistrate, Punjab School Education Board (PSEB), Regional Transport Authority (RTA), and local law enforcement have been instructed to strictly monitor and implement these orders.
Public cooperation has been sought to ensure smooth implementation of these directives. The administration has also urged local residents and commuters to plan their travel accordingly and avoid restricted routes during the specified hours.
