Sri Akal Takht Sahib officiating Jathedar summons GNDU VC over remarks linking Guru Nanak Dev’s philosophy with Vedanta
PTC Web Desk: Days after a controversy erupted over a purported video of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) Vice-Chancellor Dr Karamjit Singh allegedly linking Guru Nanak Dev’s philosophy with “Vedanta” in the presence of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Sri Akal Takht Sahib’s officiating Jathedar has directed him to personally appear and submit a clarification within 15 days.
According to Bagicha Singh, in-charge of the Sri Akal Takht Sahib Secretariat, multiple complaints were recently received alleging that the remarks had hurt Sikh sentiments during a programme held in Kochi.
“After reviewing the complaints, officiating Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj has instructed the Vice-Chancellor to appear before the Sri Akal Takht Sahib and explain his position within 15 days,” he stated.
On the other hand, the Vice-Chancellor has denied the allegations, claiming that parts of the video were deliberately edited and removed to present a distorted narrative.
