Tarn Taran by poll: Ex-Congress MLA Tarlochan Singh Soond dies of heart attack during poll campaigning
PTC News Desk: Ex Congress MLA from Banga, Tarlochan Singh Soond died of heart attack on Saturday while he was campaigning in support of Congress candidate Karnbir Singh Karn Burj in the Tarn Taran Assembly by-election. He was immediately rushed to the Civil Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
The incident has sent shock and grief across the party.
Former MLA Soond, who had represented the reserved Banga constituency, had been assigned election duty along with Avtar Singh Taneja, District Congress General Secretary, and Sukhdev Singh Boondi, in charge of Booth No. 111 in Ward 3 of Tarn Taran city.
On Saturday afternoon, after campaigning, he returned to his hotel to rest. Later, around 7:45 p.m., while shaving and getting ready, he suffered a heart attack in his room. He was immediately taken to Civil Hospital, Tarn Taran, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
Confirming his death, Dr. Surinder Kumar, SMO at Civil Hospital Tarn Taran, said that the former MLA was already deceased when brought to the emergency ward.
Expressing grief over his passing, Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Assembly Pratap Singh Bajwa, Punjab Congress General Secretary Captain Sandeep Singh Sandhu, former MP from Khadoor Sahib Jasbir Singh Dimpa, spokesperson Narinder Singh Sandhu, candidate Karnbir Singh Karn Burj, Avtar Singh Taneja, and Sukhdev Singh Dasike extended their condolences.
