Twin tragedies: Two Punjab youths die of heart attack in Canada, Armenia
PTC News Desk: In a tragic turn of events, a 24-year-old man died in Canada after suffering a heart attack.
The victim, Baltej Singh, was a resident of Chhiniwala village in Punjab's Barnala district. He was the only son of his parents. The family was informed about his death by his cousin, who lives in Canada.
According to the information, Baltej Singh had gone to Canada two years ago, in December 2023 on study visa. His father, who worked as a conductor with a private bus service, had sent his son abroad in the hope of securing a better future for him.
However his sudden death has left his family and entire village devastated and in a state of mourning. The family and villagers have appealed to both the government and the administration to help bring Baltej Singh’s body back to the village.
In another incident, 21-year-old Kamal Kumar from Sultanpur Lodhi suffered a heart attack in Armenia resulting in his untimely death. His sudden death has left his mother grieving inconsolably.
His mother said Kamal had gone overseas in a hope for better future however the reality was far-fetched from what he imagined. He was living in constant distress due to lack of employment and even struggling to afford food.
The grieving mother said Kamal’s father had died 15 years ago and that she had raised her son by washing dishes. Even today, the family is forced to live in rented accommodation.
Kamal's mother has als alleged financial fraud by the agents who had assured him of providing employment. 'In Armenia, Kamal’s situation became so dire that he did not even have money for basic meals. His debt kept increasing day by day, and he remained under continuous stress,' she further said.
Struggling to control her tears, she has appealed Indian government to provide financial assiatance to bring back his son's mortal remains.
