Chandigarh, May 18: The Punjab Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, on Tuesday approved Rs 1,500 per acre financial assistance to farmers who opt for direct sowing of paddy. Considering the need for water, let's adopt direct sowing and also motivate our fellow farmers. Let's fight to save the earth and water," Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwan Mann tweeted.

The Punjab Cabinet also decided to recruit 1,700 retired kanungos and patwaris to fill in the vacancies in the Revenue Department.
