Punjab farmers to get Rs 1,500 per acre relief for direct sowing of paddy

Chandigarh, May 18: The Punjab Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, on Tuesday approved Rs 1,500 per acre financial assistance to farmers who opt for direct sowing of paddy.

"Approved the decision to provide a subsidy of Rs. 1500 per acre to the farmers. Considering the need for water, let's adopt direct sowing and also motivate our fellow farmers. Let's fight to save the earth and water," Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwan Mann tweeted.

The Punjab Cabinet also decided to recruit 1,700 retired kanungos and patwaris to fill in the vacancies in the Revenue Department.

The Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, also decided to increase the compensation given to families of martyrs from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1 crore.
