Punjab halts recruitment against 1,925 posts of assistant professor

Chandigarh: The Punjab government on Tuesday decided to stop the recruitment of 1925 assistant professors in private aided colleges. In the said case Honorable High Court on 10.10.2014 on the basis of affidavit given by the department ordered to fill up 1925 posts in 3 phases namely 484 in the first year 2014-15, 484 in the second year 2015-16 and 957 posts will be filled in the third year 2016-17. After this notification number 11/148-2013-1/328576/5 dated 20.10.2014 was issued after the approval of the Punjab Cabinet. As per this notification, the posts were to be filled up to 31.03.2017 but these posts were not filled up to 2022. In view of this, the government has taken a decision that this recruitment is closed with immediate effect. It may be mentioned that the High Court had issued an order to the government in 2014 that 1925 posts should be filled in private aided colleges but none of the Punjab government paid any attention to it.
