Chandigarh: In view of the Covid-19 situation, the Punjab Government on Sunday announced the reopening of schools in the state for Classes 6-12. Also, the wearing of masks will now be mandatory in public places, as per the Covid restrictions imposed in Punjab. The order stated that the social distancing and wearing of masks by all persons in public places, including workplaces etc. will be mandatory and must be strictly observed and enforced. This shall also be subject to an upper limit of 50 percent of the capacity of the venue. These gatherings will be subject to compliance with Covid appropriate behavior. In a major relaxation in Covid restrictions, the Punjab Government declared reopening of schools. The Government stated that the educational institutions, including universities, colleges, schools (for classes 6th standard onwards), Polytechnics, ITIS, Coaching Institutions, Libraries and Training Institutes (whether Government or Private) are allowed to open w.e.f. February 7 for physical classes. The concerned institutions have been advised to direct all the students of age more than 15 years to have at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine while attending physical classes. Students will have the option to attend. online classes. All bars, cinemas halls, multiplexes, malls, restaurants, spas. gyms, sports complexes, museums, zoos etc. shall be allowed to operate at 75 percent of their capacity subject to all staff present being fully vaccinated. Passengers travelling by flights shall be mandatorily required to be fully vaccinated, or Covid recovered, or with negative RTPCR reports of the last 72 hrs, the Government stated.
