Chandigarh: Traffic Rule Violation: Punjab State Transport Department on Sunday included a new clause that may land traffic violators in Hospital or even school. Yes, you read that right now violating traffic rules will not only invite fine imposition but will also mandate you to serve special social works like donating blood or attending lectures in school.

Governor Banwari Lal Purohit has approved this proposal. The Transport Department has issued a notification and directed the authority to take action on its basis. Option will also be available in these works. People will be able to choose the service conveniently. They have to get the certificate from the concerned authority. That is, if someone donates blood, then he will get the confiscated documents only after showing the certificate issued from the hospital. The government has also increased the challan amount by one and a half to two times for violation of traffic rules. Earlier, there was a fine of Rs 500 for jumping red light, which has been increased to Rs 1000. This proposal was also sent to the previous governments by Ravinder Singh Gill, former nodal officer of Punjab Road Safety Council and current RTA (Sangrur), but it was not implemented. Gill said that the government has done a commendable job. Violations of the rules will come down significantly. People will be aware. Apart from this traffic rules will be applicable

  •  The second time the fine will be doubled but the social service will remain the same.
